Executive Director

Application Deadline: N/A

ZRG Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with Southeast Area Animal Control Authority in the search for an Executive Director.

Reporting to the Board of Commissioners, the Executive Director will have full administrative authority and oversee the direction of SEAACA's operations including field, care center, veterinarian clinic, and licensing programs and services. The ED leads the management team to shepherd SEAACA's resources and develop policies, operational priorities and strategic projects. The ED will serve as the liaison between SEAACA and the public and ensure quality animal care and public services are provided in accordance with SEAACA's mission, goals, and board-driven philosophy.

With the support of our Board of Commissioners and dedicated staff, and in cooperation with the public and rescue partners, SEAACA is committed to providing high-quality animal care and control to the 14 cities we serve. Across five divisions - Animal Health, Animal Care, Animal Control, Adoption & Community Engagement and Customer Service & Licensing – we deliver for animals and the people in our communities. From cats and dogs to snakes, roosters, rabbits, turtles and everything in between, the SEAACA team manages approximately 1,000 animal intakes a month. Over 90% of our live intake dogs find new homes.

With an annual budget of $9M and 75 authorized staff members, SEAACA serves a population of roughly 900,000. SEAACA currently works with the cities of Bell Gardens, Bellflower, Buena Park, Downey, Lakewood, La Palma, Montebello, Norwalk, Paramount, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, South El Monte, South Gate and Vernon. Our low-cost vaccine clinics and spay and neuter clinics treat 1,500+ cats and dogs a year, and we have a burgeoning community engagement program that the organization's new leader will take the reins of for further growth. After the conclusion of a comprehensive performance and operations audit at the direction of the board, the new Executive Director will arrive to SEAACA with a mandate for modernization and change.

A bachelor's degree with major course work in Animal Care, Veterinary Technology, Public Administration, Business Administration, Public Safety, or a related field degree and at least ten years of management experience is required for this position. Relevant volunteer experience in leadership roles will be considered, and animal handling experience is desirable but not required.

Southeast Area Animal Control Authority will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. If you are excited about this role and feel that you can contribute to SEAACA, but your experience does not exactly align with every qualification listed above, we encourage you to apply. All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé.
