Under general direction, provides direct supervision over Animal Services Officers and Animal Services Officer Lead; oversees and performs enforcement functions related to the care, control, licensing, impoundment and euthanasia of animals; and performs related work as required.

Three years of full-time experience as an Animal Control/Services Officer; OR four years of full-time progressively responsible experience in the care and handling of animals in a professional work environment including interviewing the public, assessing information and making determinations; OR four years of active duty military experience OR four years of full-time experience in the enforcement of local, state or federal codes/laws; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
License Or Certificate
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment for this classification.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid National Animal Care and Control Association ACO I and ACO II certification or equivalent is required within one year of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid certification as a euthanasia technician is required within one year of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment for this classification.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid pharmacy certificate/controlled substance license is required within one year of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment for this classification.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Training Instructor certification for Oleoresin Capsicum Spray, Pepperball Launcher, and ASP Baton required within one year of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment within this classification.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a certificate in chemical capture within one year of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment within this classification.
