WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

As Emergency Response Program Manager, you’ll build and lead a comprehensive emergency preparedness program that spans planning, training, interagency coordination, and real-world response. You’ll serve as a key representative of Marin Humane during emergencies—working side by side with fire, law enforcement, emergency management, and animal welfare partners to protect animals and support the broader community.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Coordinate multi-agency response efforts and mutual aid deployments
  • Develop and maintain emergency plans, SOPs, training programs, and readiness documentation
  • Build and oversee animal technical rescue capacity and volunteer disaster response teams
  • Lead preparedness exercises, trainings, and community outreach efforts
  • Oversee emergency logistics, fleet readiness, and supply management
  • Support complex field operations, investigations, and large-scale animal rescues

WHO YOU ARE

You’re a steady, thoughtful leader who stays calm under pressure and values teamwork, planning, and adaptability. You bring hands-on emergency response experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across agencies and disciplines.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 3+ years of experience in emergency response, disaster operations, animal welfare, or public safety
  • Experience working in coordinated, multi-agency response environments
  • Leadership experience with staff and/or volunteers
  • Hands-on experience with small and large animals in emergency or sheltering settings
  • Strong project management, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to deploy and work irregular hours during emergencies
  • FEMA/ICS training preferred; Spanish-English bilingual skills a plus
