WHO WE ARE

The Montgomery County Office of Animal Services (OAS), which operates the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC), provides high-standard sheltering and care to the homeless, abused, and neglected animals in our community and ensures the safety and welfare of the County’s animals and citizens by enforcing laws and regulations. We are responsible for providing animal-related services to the residents of Montgomery County, Maryland, from our headquarters in Derwood, Maryland. MCASAC is the county's only open-admissions, municipal animal shelter and community center. OAS programs serve as critical community resources to promote and advocate for responsible pet ownership. By partnering with community and regional non-profit animal welfare organizations and other County agencies, our programs and services enhance the level of care provided to animals in the shelter and the community by providing alternatives and support needed to give them the best future possible.
