Responsibilities
Train, supervise, and assist subordinate personnel at the Animal Services facility and in the field
Ensure compliance with department rules, regulations, and the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws
Respond to emergency situations and assist other law enforcement agencies as needed
Conduct investigations, collect evidence, issue corrective action orders and citations, and testify in court
Review and approve officer reports and case files submitted during the shift
Assist personnel in preparing cases for court
Perform routine duties of an Animal Control Officer, as well as other assigned tasks
Position Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing field operations at the Animal Services facility, including training and supervising personnel. The incumbent ensures compliance with departmental policies, county ordinances, and applicable state and federal laws. Duties include responding to emergencies, supporting law enforcement agencies, conducting investigations, collecting evidence, issuing citations, and testifying in court. The position also involves reviewing reports, assisting with court preparations, and performing the routine responsibilities of an Animal Control Officer, along with other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field
Required:
Two years of experience in an animal control facility, with at least one year in a supervisory role
Valid United States Driver’s License (Class C)
Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
Willingness and ability to drive a county vehicle, if job duties require
Minimum age of 21
Employment contingent upon passing a mandatory physical exam, drug screening, MVR check, and background investigation
