Position Overview
The National Animal Care and Control Association (NACA) is seeking a highly motivated and creative Marketing and Communications Specialist to support our mission of advancing the profession of animal care and control. This entry-level position will focus on managing all aspects of the organization’s marketing and communications, including social media, member and donor communications, graphic design, and all external-facing documents. This role works closely with the Program Administrator and Executive Director to align messaging with NACA’s strategic goals.

Salary ranges for this position vary based on geographic location, as well as the candidate’s experience, skills, and industry knowledge. Compensation is determined by a combination of these factors to ensure competitive and equitable pay.

Key Responsibilities

  • Social Media Management
  • Plan, create, and schedule content across all social media platforms.
  • Engage with followers to build community and increase audience reach.
  • Monitor social media metrics and adjust strategies to optimize performance.

Member and Donor Communications

  • Write and distribute newsletters, announcements, and updates to members and donors.
  • Maintain a communications calendar to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Create campaigns to promote memberships, programs, and events.
  • Graphic Design
  • Design all graphic assets, including social media posts, email templates, event materials, and other branded collateral.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all platforms and materials.

Content Creation and Coordination

  • Concept and design work of print, social, and web marketing collateral
  • Collaborate to promote all NACA training programs, webinars, and events.
  • Produce high-quality external-facing documents such as annual reports, press releases, and position statements.
  • Research and write articles, blogs, and other content to highlight NACA’s mission and achievements.
  • Communication Schedule Management
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive communication schedule.
  • Coordinate deadlines and deliverables with team members and stakeholders.
  • Website Updates
  • Work with website administrators to ensure content is up-to-date and visually appealing.

Other Duties

  • Assist with event promotion and marketing strategies.
  • Support fundraising and donor engagement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience in graphic design work and videography
  • Proficient on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok and YouTube
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Experience managing social media platforms and scheduling tools.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit organizations or animal welfare is a plus.
  • Positive collaborative spirit and team-oriented attitude
  • Able to work some nights and weekends
  • Some use of personal cell phone included
